Community foundations in Bulgaria are legally registered as foundations working for public benefit under the Law for Not for Profit organizations (into force since year 2000). The public benefit status allows them not to pay income tax on donations received from private sources, and also provides the donors with the opportunity to receive tax benefits on donations made, which exceed 10% of the taxable profit for companies and 5% of the taxable income for individuals.
